Alright, it's been forever since I've updated. So sue me. A lot to catch up on though. Marlan Christian Vargas made his 'oh so dramatic' entrance into the world after 4 days of contractions! Then on Aug 16 all 8 lbs, 5 oz of him came into the world. He's absolutely beautiful with a full head of hair and a very tan complexion. Luckily my mom stayed the first 5 days with me and got me used to doing all the essentials. When I figured out I couldn't break him life got easier. His wonderful father gets up with him all the time to give me a break. I never knew the wrath of sleep deprivation until now. Its like living finals week perpetually. Its a small cost though. My father is coming into town tomorrow which is exciting. I can get some rest, get my engagement ring resized (my fingers are no longer three times their size from swelling) and, alas, get my books for fall quarter. I am very close to finishing my history degree and all I have to do for my political science major is take my upper division req's. Doesn't sound like a lot but with lil' Marlan it sounds like a lot of work. But what can you do? And with a friend like Jennifer, how can I fail? She is an ABSOLUTE angel sent from God. She brings me food, puts ME down for a nap , and cleans the house. I LOVE you Jenn. Anyhow, hopefully the exposure to Marlan will help her and her husband have kids sooner. Lil' Marlan needs a friend The update now, is Marlan weighs 10 lbs, 2 oz. roughly, he is very alert and making happy noises. He still can't sleep more than 2 hours at a time at night but they say not to expect him to till 3 months anyway. Well, till later. Tschuss.

Thanks to a new acquaintance of mine (Sophia ) I have developed a higher purpose for my xanga page.  She gave me the idea of forming a pseudo journal about our soon arriving child.  First is first...we don't know what the sex is! The ultrasound, although amazingly sophisticated, could not change the fact that our baby's legs were crossed.  I am going to be 33 weeks on Sunday and we are having our highly anticipated baby shower on Saturday! The generosity of our friends has been amazing.  We're anticipating about 60 guests and we hope all can make it.

Things are pretty uneventful at the moment except for this horrible heat! I don't know what I would have done without Patty these last few weeks. She has brought me food when I have wierd late night cravings, helped launch the baby shower (along w/ Tacoma), and practically packed my boxes for moving! She's amazing and I love her (and her cat Elvis who I'm going to kidnap, Marlan won't notice one more).  Lindsay and Kelly have reassured me that I will never be short a baby sitter, if anything I'll have to kick them out.  And my greatest Kayan! If I seem levelheaded it is because she straightens me out.  She is the best at helping me see the bigger picture. As for Paco, Paul, and Levon, they know how to get a moving trip done.  There's just too many people to thank...so everyone coming to the shower, thanks! There's a reason we want you to be there to celebrate our special day.
